Culinary Lublin
Lublin, with its specific atmosphere, its beauty, is definitely different from all other Polish cities. None of them have so many religions and cultures intersected. Poles, Jews, Ukrainians, as well as Germans, Roma, Tartars and Italians lived side by side for centuries. It was a cultural meeting place between East and West.
One of the best expressions of this cultural mosaic is the unique cuisine of the region. The culinary history of the Lublin region was shaped over several centuries, and the modern flavours of the city are intertwined with traditions of old Polish, Jewish, Armenian and borderland cuisine. We will visit carefully selected places where we will taste a variety of dishes and regional delicacies.
Discover with us the flavours of the Lublin region during this culinary tour with a guide, a true connoisseur of local specialities!

DISCOVERING MULTICULTURAL LUBLIN
To understand Lublin’s culinary mosaic, we will first delve into its history. We begin our tour by exploring the city with a guide.
Lublin is one of the most attractive cities in Poland. A multicultural city where Catholics, Jews, Orthodox and Greek Catholics have lived side by side for centuries. The architecture of the Old Town, which is more than 70% original, attracts tourists from all over the world. Lublin’s Old Town impresses with its well-preserved, mainly Renaissance buildings with traces of Gothic, Baroque and Classicism, and the city’s multicultural history of over 700 years is confirmed by numerous monuments. We will see the most important of these, including the most valuable Holy Trinity Chapel, whose walls are covered with 15th-century Ruthenian-Byzantine style paintings.
During the walk we will stop for a tasting of local beverages, included on the List of Traditional Products, such as mead, cranberry liqueur or raspberry liqueur.
“CEBULARZ” (PDO) WORKSHOP
At the end of the tour, a workshop and a visit to the Cebularz Museum await us. This local baked good, rooted in Jewish tradition, has become a culinary landmark of the city. During an interactive show featuring the legendary Esterka and the baker Frank, the origins of this wonderful baking, which has filled the stomachs and brought joy to the people of the Lublin area and their guests for hundreds of years, are presented. During a visit to the museum, everyone will learn about the history of Lublin, get to know the legend and the recipe for “cebularz”, and discover the properties of its ingredients. During the demonstration, you can briefly become a baker by contributing to the creation of this aromatic wheat flat-cake topped with onion.
After the tasty workshops, when our appetites have been whetted, we will go for a delicious lunch at one of the restaurants serving local dishes, such as “forszmak”, “piróg biłgorajski” of buckwheat or jagel groats, or “gryczaki”.
HISTORIC PEARL BREWERY
Refreshed, we will go to the historic Pearl Brewery, located in the former monastery of the Reformati Fathers. We will visit the basement of the brewery, where we will learn about the rich history of the place, the events and personalities associated with it, and find out how the entire production process takes place and what ingredients are used to make beer. The perfect culmination of the tour will be a tasting in a unique room, which is the former lagering room of the Brewery.
This concludes our culinary discovery of Lublin’s charms. In the late afternoon, we will set off on our return journey to Warsaw.
