ST. ANNE’S MOUNTAIN

Transfer to St. Anna – the majestic Chelm hill of the Opole region, towering over the surrounding area, that has been a place of worship of St. Anne. Pilgrims follow the feet of an ancient figurine which is cared for by the Franciscans. The local areas belonged to the wealthy Gaszyn family based in Zyrowa. They founded an impressive Calvary with over 40 chapels scattered around the picturesque surroundings. We will start our tour with a visit to the sanctuary and the papal altar. In 1983, St. Anna was visited by John Paul II. From here, we will follow the paths of Calvary to the Museum of the Uprising to learn about the history of three Silesian Uprisings from a century ago. During the II World War, the building of the Museum served as the commandant’s office of the work camp. We will pay respect  at the memorial plaque of the camp.

Return along the paths to the center of the village for a genuine Silesian meal.

In the afternoon we will go to the monument commemorating the Silesian Uprisings, it rises above the stone amphitheater, carved in German times. The amphitheater and the rock on which the monument is situated hide many secrets. Walk along the paths of the Landscape Park and mini-trekking through the beech forests, for those who wish.

In the late afternoon we set off on our way back.

A trip for active people, it is recommended to take Nordic walking poles.
